Culture Coach - Activities Coordinator and Cultural Education [Netherlands]

As a Culture Coach, your primary responsibility will be to promote high-quality cultural education in schools and organize various cultural activities, projects, and events. Additionally, you will provide support and guidance to cultural stakeholders, contributing to the overall enhancement of the island's cultural landscape.
Working in collaboration with local cultural partners, schools, volunteers, and children, you will actively encourage cultural participation both during school hours and in leisure time. By empowering and facilitating all involved parties, you will make art, dance, theatre, culture, and heritage on Sint Eustatius accessible to all residents.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development, facilitation, and organization of cultural activities, projects, and events to increase cultural participation and awareness. This will involve close collaboration with schools and cultural stakeholders.
  • Demonstrating commitment to strengthening cultural education in schools by responding to school requests, developing, coordinating, and delivering guest lessons, activities, and workshops across various disciplines such as arts, crafts, music, theatre, dance, and multimedia.
  • Identifying needs and fostering collaboration by acting as a reliable partner and point of contact for schools and stakeholders. This will involve establishing regular and structured discussions and brainstorming sessions.
  • Informing cultural stakeholders and schools about ongoing developments, alongside your colleagues.
  • Adopting a resident/child-centric perspective and supporting schools and stakeholders in developing their cultural strategy, policies, and implementation.

Functie-eisen

  • You are in possession of a MBO 4 diploma or a bachelor's degree (HBO), with at least three years of relevant work experience in culture, art, education, or organizing activities. Alternatively, you should be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skills.
  • You have a strong ability to establish connections, identify potential risks, build relationships, and maintain trust.
  • You have excellent communication and social skills, coupled with a positive attitude towards working collaboratively in a small team.
  • You have a thorough understanding of the local work environment, ongoing developments, and the interests and needs of stakeholders. You should be able to leverage this knowledge to forge connections, align efforts, and empower the work field.
  • You are competent in developing, coordinating, and implementing cultural activities and events while considering cultural aspects and traditions.
  • You are capable to assess the quality of cultural providers from an educational perspective.
  • You have a proactive work attitude with a focus on cooperation and co-creation.
  • You are resilient to stress, along with the ability to initiate and strengthen collaborations with stakeholders, while possessing adequate improvisational skills.
  • You are familiar with relevant regulations and policy frameworks, preferably including knowledge of the local and regional cultural landscape.
  • You are proficient in spoken and written English. Proficiency in Dutch and Spanish is preferred.
  • You are flexible in terms of working hours, including availability for at least one evening per week.

    The role is classified at scale 8, with a minimum gross monthly salary of $2,568.- and a maximum of $3,593.- based on a 39.5-hour workweek. Placement within the salary scale will be determined by your educational background and experience

Bijzonderheden

This is a temporary position with a fixed duration until December 31st, 2025. A certificate of good conduct (VOG) and participation in a medical examination are required. An assessment may also be part of the selection process.
