About The Role

Calling all demonstrative data wranglers, superlative storytellers, visualisation visionaries, and movers and shakers. In Fintech at Booking we love to travel and we want to share that passion by providing the best possible flexibility and payments products to our customers and hotel partners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Data Analyst focused specifically in the Payments business within our regulatory technology squad. This squad will have 3 members that are part of the larger Analytics Organization within the Fintech Business Unit that is composed of 4 core teams, consisting of 8 squads, across 3 locations.

A key area of focus will be working with product teams to ensure data is being leveraged to identify possibilities of improving our regulatory products that enable quick onboarding of our hotels, airline Partners, and even travellers to our newer flexibility products. This is an emerging and cutting-edge sphere of analytics in Online Travel markets, where advanced analytics combine with ML and customer centricity to make the process as automated and seamless as possible for our customers.

Teaming up with Product Managers, fellow analysts, data engineers, and more, you will be directly involved in enabling business improvements through your own insights/observations, and being an influencer on product and business decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team up with Product Managers to generate hypotheses for performance of different products
  • Defining the performance KPIs, generate analysis and reporting suites to measure performance of different verification channels
  • Perform exploratory analysis that interrogates, supports and challenges business assumptions
  • Work with data engineers to identify opportunities to improve measurement of product performance
  • Automating processes to efficiently manage reporting requirements, and ensure timeliness of information
  • Support team on ad hoc analytical requests

Level of education: Bachelor degree, Master degree, PhD, or equivalent experience

Experience: 5+ years (Bachelor degree) & 3+ years (Master degree)


Requirements of special knowledge/skills

  • Able to communicate technical information and tell the story through data to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with either Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization software
  • Understanding of basic statistical hypothesis testing concepts
  • Strong experience of leveraging insights and wrangling data from disparate data sources
  • Demonstrates strong ownership, stakeholder management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities & threats.
  • Strong technical skills in either SQL, Pyspark, Python, or R
  • Strong visualisation skills and 2+ years experience using either Tableau or Power BI
  • Able to balance the need for accuracy and efficiency

Would be nice to have skills/experience

  • Knowledge of KYC (Know Your Customer) regulation and data analytics in that domain.
  • Experience of working in / for an ecommerce organisation
  • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and data / web analysis software
  • Power BI / Tableau
  • Pyspark
