TU Delft is seeking a new Data Stewardship Coordinator to advance its Data Stewardship service.

Job description

TU Delft is a big advocate for Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science. Its Data Stewardship service has been a leading example in supporting researchers and cultivate cultural change in academic institutions.

As Data Stewardship Coordinator, your main task is to co-ordinate the evolution of Data Stewardship at the TU Delft. As the coordinator:

  • You propose and lead the evaluation and ongoing development of RDM related policies at TU Delft, and facilitate the development and updates of faculty RDM policies.
  • You advice to other TU Delft policies and guidelines where RDM is involved.
  • You lead the evaluation and improvement of Data Stewardship at TU Delft, and advice on professionalising the role of Data Stewards at national and international level.
  • You ensure the implementation and maintenance of RDM applications at TU Delft, and lead the improvement of RDM related guidance and tooling.
  • You advice the policy drafting in the field of RDM or Open Science at the national or international level (via national or international working groups).
  • You advice and lead the development of RDM training programme for PhDs, in collaboration with the central graduate school.
  • You sustain and inspire the network of data stewards across TU Delft faculties and institutes.You manage a forum for all data stewards to share knowledge on research data and software needs and requirements.
  • You coordinate with related library teams on research data, and communicate the demands and support on RDM practices.
  • You establish partnership with other TUD services (privacy, ICT, ethics, security, legal, I&IC, graduate schools, etc.) on their involvement in Data Stewardship, and lead the alignment of university level workflows on RDM.
  • Advice TU Delft faculties on establishing faculty level Data Stewardship, including DS recruitment.
  • You work with national and international networks to share and inform best practice.

The position is based in the TU Delft Library as part of the Research Data and Software (RDS) team. The RDS team has a leading role in developing the university policies in relation to research data and software, coordinates the related training activities at the university level, collaborates with ICT in the Digital Competence Centre, and coordinates the Data Stewardship across all TU Delft faculties and related university services.

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who:

  • is able to build good relationships and consensus across stakeholders with varying aims.
  • is knowledgeable about contemporary trends in research data and scholarly communications, and has an analytical eye for future trends. Being familiar with the Dutch RDM landscape would be a plus.
  • is solution-oriented.
  • has a good understanding of how to influence change in an organisation and the importance of working with different aspects of a university (e.g. faculties, support services).
  • experienced in managing people would be a plus.
  • has excellent networking, communication and presentation skills.
  • has a good command of English, written and spoken and are willing to learn Dutch (if necessary).

Conditions of employment

  • Duration of contract is 1 year with prospect of permanent.
  • A job of 36-40 hours per week.
  • A salary based on scale 12 of the CAO for Dutch Universities with a minimum of €4.814,- and a maximum of €6.181,- gross per month based on a fulltime contract (38 hours), plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
